Breastfeeding when it isn’t feeling natural

August 6, 2019 By Katrina Ryan Leave a Comment

Breastfeeding Awareness Week Shout Out to the mumma’s that this doesn’t come naturally too.

The mumma’s that feel like stillness is torture and wasting precious time.

Who are told to savour the moments by those that just love the bonding time and whose mind then goes ‘not good enough’ yet again because it takes some serious work for us to be in the moment when there’s so many things we want to get done in our day.

To the Mumma’s whose bodies crawl when those little fingers go to play with the other breast, tweek the nipple and soothe and you go baby girl I love you endlessly but I won’t do that. Nipple twiddling is off limits here!

To the Mumma’s who don’t hate breastfeeding but get annoyed by the frequency they are on demand and are forced to stop.

To the Mumma’s that own I choose this but it doesn’t mean I have to pretend it’s my favourite part of the day

To the Mumma’s who get this post.

Who are high fiving hell yes my love for my child is not defined by how much I love the breastfeeding experience- hell yes I’d rather breastfeed than use any other soothing or feeding method but that doesn’t mean I don’t have the right to frustration.

My gosh do I love holding my baby.

I love her little lashes and how powerful my body is at doing all the things she needs comfort, immunity, nutrition and hydration.

But for the love of God if you boob hop one more time, or claw my face or grab my teeth or wander those little fingers to massage my nipple that I used to love being fondled but now that’s dead to me for life I might just cut you off.

Happy Breastfeeding Week Mumma’s

I see you and we have got this!
